Dermal Filler
What are Dermal fillers made of?
There are many injectable cosmetic fillers on the market today. At Professional Aesthetics, we use a filler called Hyaluderm which has the benefits, of one formulation being able treat all areas of the face and contains none of the cross linked proteins (impurities) present in some of the other fillers. The main ingredient is hyaluronic acid. It is manufactured just outside Paris
Is it safe?
Yes, very. The hyaluronic acid in Professional Aesthetics dermal fillers is biodegradable, which means that, when the injected gel breaks down, it turns into water and carbon dioxide and disappears unnoticed from your body
What will happen during treatment?
Your Professional Aesthetics Practitioner will determine the areas and extent of treatment by discussing your preferences. Areas that can be treated include wrinkle correction, nasolabial folds (the lines between your nose and the corner of your mouth) and lip enhancements. Your Practitioner will use an anaesthetic cream to numb the relevant areas and then administer several tiny injections in the areas to be treated
How long does treatment take?
The treatment can usually be done in about 10 - 25 minutes and no recovery time is needed (see Aftercare instructions). The only visible signs that you’ve had anything done are some potential redness or minor bruising/swelling around the injection points
How does it work?
The active ingredient in Hyaluderm is derived from hyaluronic acid, which is a natural sugar found in the skin. Its function in the skin is to maintain volume and pliability. The unique property of this acid is its ability to bind with water molecules up to 1000 times its original size making it an excellent choice for filler. Because it can bind with water, it is extremely safe when eliminated with regular body waste over time
How quickly will I see results?
The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to your skin
How long will it last?
Dermal fillers are long lasting but not permanent. They last around 6-8 months and the procedure can be repeated as often as you like
Does it hurt a lot?
An anaesthetic cream is applied prior to injecting so only a very minor discomfort is felt
Is there any reason I shouldn't have treatment?
During your consultation, a medical history will be taken to assess any risks that would preclude treatment. This is why at Professional Aesthetics all treatments are performed by doctors only
What are the side effects?
Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. This means that the results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result
Will I look unnatural after treatment?
Absolutely not! At Professional aesthetics, we strive for a natural looking result via subtle improvements. Friends may comment that you look more relaxed, but treatment will not radically alter your appearance; it will simply reduce lines and wrinkles
Do I have to be a certain age to have Dermal filler treatment?
Dermal filler treatments are generally thought to be safe to use in individuals aged between 18 and 65. Wrinkle and line treatment will usually be of benefit to those 25 years or older. Lip enhancements can be used from the age of 18
